Modo Campus is greatly enhanced when it is integrated with a school’s ERP system. Ellucian Colleague is a unique environment that is foreign to many developers. Modo Labs faced a big technical challenge and lengthy timeframe if they were to integrate Modo Campus with Ellucian Colleague themselves. Modo chose WebWizard as their integration tool of choice because Aptron and WebWizard allowed Modo to integrate with Ellucian Colleague without knowing the nitty-gritty details of the integration. WebWizard provides the environment and tools for the integration and Aptron provides the Ellucian Colleague knowledge, know-how, and development resources to develop and support the integration.

A key feature of Modo Campus is providing an easy way for students to add and drop classes from their schedule. Unlike displaying a current schedule or a catalog of classes, this feature must access a complex array of information about classes, pre-requisite requirements and student restrictions to display available classes and accept a student’s choices. With WebWizard, Modo knows that the routines used for adding and dropping classes are the same ones Colleague uses. This allows Modo to implement real-time processing rather than cumbersome overnight batch processes to update registration data.

Educational institutions need to make sure that the registration processes, the catalogs, and schedules reflect changes in policies.
